Water Baby

About this piece

The Oyster Shell has a hinged mechanism at the base of the shell allowing the shell to open to reveal the water baby inside. The baby is hand carved from vegetable ivory and can be removed from the shell and held as an Objet d’Art. There are two starfish crafted in yellow gold attached to the baby aswell as a gold button with Steph Lusted’s makers mark/stamp.
When the silver cockle shell is removed, the shell can close and protect the water baby. The lid of the shell features a small starfish crafted in gold. Sterling Silver fish hold up the piece, each one individually carved and crafted to fit the form of the shell. The underside of the lower shell features a Sterling Silver plaque inset, stating the name of the piece alongside Steph Lusted’s markers mark/stamp.
